Labor Day in Eldo

We went to Eldo over Labor Day weekend, which happened to be Isaac's first road trip. He did great, as expected. When we got there, he had a ball chumming around with his adorable cousin Charlee.

Meanwhile, Alex was honing his t-ball skills with Grammy.

We also went to a fish fry at the Cheshiers. Alex showed Hyleigh how fun trains can be, and then challenged her to a game of "child-friendly" lawn jarts.

One of the highlights of the trip for Alex was getting to sing with Brother Sam, or "Brother Ham", as Alex calls him. Grammy gave Alex a CD of Brother Sam singing Victory Bible Camp classics such as, "My Gal's a Corker", "Little Tommy Tinker", and Alex's personal favorite, "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain". We've listened to that CD no less than a hundred times, so Alex was psyched when we promised him that he'd get to sing with Brother Ham in person. Alex knew most of the words and gestures, and I think Brother Sam got a kick out of it, as well.

Isaac...

...burps like a dragon.
...often sleeps from 8 to 7.
...is officially 3 months and 5 days old.
...is never more excited than when someone talks to him.

...is starting to think about thinking about starting to develop a regular nap schedule.
...loves his mom and dad almost as much as he loves his brother.
...has pinchable cheeks. Both sets.

...always falls asleep in the car.
...eats 6 ozs. 6 times/day.
...would win a staring contest with a British Guard.

...spends a lot of time with his tongue out.
...has kissed his 0-3 month clothes goodbye.

...has a rounder head than he used to.
...has a little less hair than he used to.

...has a gummy grin that makes me want to eat his face.

...sports a natural glow. He's 2 shades darker than anyone in our household.

...is a thinker.

...is a talker...when he can get a word in edgewise.

... has eyelashes like a giraffe.

...gets giddy when I lay him on the bath mat and start the water in the tub because he knows what's coming next.

...spits up. A lot. And it is starting to look like cottage cheese.
...holds long conversations with stuffed cows and mirrors.
...has allergies.

...totally rocks a pair of baby Gap jeans and a polo shirt (collar popped, of course).
...is the yin to Alex's yang.
...will melt many a lady's heart.
...has already melted mine.

Tom Landry Classic '10

We went to the Tom Landry Classic at SMU Stadium again this year and took both boys with us. Highland Park High School was playing this year, which means that there were tons of people and no street parking for miles. After driving circles around the stadium and through the surrounding neighborhoods for half an hour, we found a parking deck directly behind the stadium that had lots of available spots. Oops. We were a little late for the game, but considering my view that football games should end at halftime, I was totally fine with that.

It was super fun to have the boys there, though. Tim had given Alex a defense sign that he had gotten at a Cowboys game and he was totally excited to use it...

...almost as excited as he was about football stadium concessions. I think he ate his weight in popcorn.

I caught Isaac eyeballin' Alex's popcorn, but most of the time he just chilled like the sweet, happy, chill baby he is.

He really loves to play the "air drums", so he perked up when the band came onto the field and daddy helped him rock out.

Alex spent a lot of time counting the numbers on the back of the bleacher seats, which was especially funny (and obnoxious) because he kept climbing on random people in the stands, trying to see what number their seats were. I was really impressed by how long the boys held out. In fact, I was ready to go well before either of them were.

I don't know if you can call something a "tradition" if you've only done it two years in a row, but this is definitely something we look forward to doing every year as the boys get older.
