deep thoughts: fairness

Dear Alex,
When you are sixteen and we are arguing over curfew, you are going to say something along the lines of, "That's not fair!". And I am going to remind you that, when you were two-and-a-half years old, I spent an entire morning scrubbing poop out of my bathroom rug because you thought that was a good place to do your business. I am going to tell you that "Life's not fair", and that sometimes we have to do things that "stink", whether we really want to or not.

Love,
Mom

I know I should not be smiling right now but it's just too hard not to :). Biruk once pooped in my hand. Never, in a million years, would I ever have imagined wiping my babes but and having them poop in my hand. I know that is a very gross story, but it could be worse is all I'm saying :)
