2 month check

Isaac had his 2 month check up last week, and our child is growing like a weed. He weighs 12 pounds 13 ounces (75th percentile) and is 24 1/4 inches tall (90th percentile). The doctor was very pleased with his growth and commented that, "These days, it's always good when your kid is a little taller than he is heavy."

But there were a couple of "non-routine" things that came up. I have to do some daily stretching exercises with Isaac's neck because it is a little stiff on the left side and his head is lopsided from favoring his right side so much. It's the same thing as when babies have flat heads from laying on their back, only it's on one side. I'm not sure that it is super noticeable to the general public, but we notice it, and it makes us nuts. So we are hoping that doing the exercises, lots of tummy time, and encouraging him to look to his right will help it fill out without needing further intervention (because Timothy bursts into flames at the mere mention of the word "helmet").

The doctor also detected a slight heart murmur, but Alex was being so noisy (imagine that) that he couldn't really hear exactly what was going on. He suggested we go see a pediatric cardiologist to have it checked out, but he wasn't very concerned because Isaac is otherwise healthy and normal and hitting appropriate milestones. While I'm not particularly worried about either issue, it is disappointing to leave a checkup without hearing the word "perfect". Then again, the doctor didn't dwell on either issue and went on and on about what a good-looking and healthy kid Isaac was.

He was great with Alex, too, chatted with him and taught him how to say, "sphygmomanometer". Alex spent the rest of the appointment bouncing off the walls and making as much noise as humanly possible. As he left the exam room, the doc told me, "You're gonna have your hands full with that one". Tell me about it.

Here is Isaac's 2 month pic as compared to Alex's. Apparently I didn't start blogging about Alex's well child check ups until 4 months because I can't find a post with his 2 month stats, so you'll just have to eyeball it.

Of course Isaac is half naked, so that throws things off a bit, but I think he's probably got his big bro by a couple of pounds. And I have a feeling it will stay that way. Look out Alex!

ugh... agony...I am shaking my piggy bank to see how far I can get before I have to hitch hike to come see you guys.
He is so darn cute and obviously animated because his pictures are just adorable. I can see Alex has coached him on- "ya might as well cooperate and take a good picture right off the bat cause she'll never give up" pep talk. Good Job Alex!
The shape of their faces and body types seem very different to me. Can't wait to see how this all turns out!
