Alex and I took a break from cleaning and unpacking on Friday and decided to give the backyard a whirl.
The large deck attached to the house is great, and I'm really looking forward to year-round grilling and breezy dinners out there in the fall. Unfortunately, Alex likes it, too. He especially likes climbing up and down the stairs, racing to the edge as fast as can, and then cracking up when I run up to save him from plummeting off the edge.
Soooo, the backyard isn't quite as lush and green as the front. In fact, it's pretty much the opposite of lush and green. But Alex doesn't seem to mind.
Now, Auntie L, before you see the next three pictures and start diagnosin', let me just say this. His dad and I both have the same quirk about not liking to have weird stuff on our hands, so as far as I'm concerned, it's genetic. And while some may argue that Timothy and I both suffer from some sort of mental disorder, I think Alex has the best chance of the three of us to turn out "normal".
Murph is loving the yard, too, and he and Alex have had fun fighting over the tennis ball.
We also broke out the soccer ball, and seriously folks, we might have a future soccer star in Alex. He dribbled that ball around the yard like a pro, and although I'm not entirely sure that he was doing it on purpose, I think that made it even more impressive. I mean, the best athletes are the ones that don't even have to think about what they are doing, right? I think that's what they call being a "natural".
An example of how he gets filthy, dirty boy nails:
One last backyard pic before heading back inside.

Having a yard is fabulous! And yours looks awesome! Can't wait to see pics of the inside after you get it all fixed up:)
I love the pics, but tell him to stop growing up before we get to see him again! He is so cute running around the yard though!
My heart is breaking from not being there to help break in the back yard with you guys! HUH! Some of my best childhood memories were playing in the dirt, making mud pies, trying to dig a tunnel from the front of our house to the back.... I just MUST find a real pot pie tin and spoon for Alex.
Now don't mess up his wonderland with a yard full of grass he can't walk on for fear of the dreaded "dead spot". What a great baseball field that is gonna be!
I am so so so happy for you guys. The place looks great!
