We've survived yet another year of BBB! Vicki, Bill and Leah came up for the event and to spoil Alex a little rotten for the weekend. Grammy made sure that he was appropriately dressed for the parade of bikes and searched high and low for the entire line of baby biker gear from Baby Gap. The outfit was to die for, and although the jeans were a little too voluminous for A's teeny tushy at this point, he totally rocked the shirt, socks, and hat.
The parade was on Saturday at 4 and Alex was psyched to show off his rad biker apparel. We met up with Katie and her husband Scott at the law school and scored some great seats along the parade path. Alex took a nap to gear up (pun intended) for the fun, until the sounds of revving engines became too much to sleep through.
Although I regretted not bringing baby ear plugs to keep Alex's little brain from rattling around in his head, he didn't seem to mind too much. He watched intently as all the bikes drove by and got lots of smiles from passing bikers who apparently approved of his authentic biker duds.
After the parade, we strapped A into his carrier and made a quick stop at the law school before heading home.
It seems that the day's excitement left Alex quite exhausted as he had an incredible night's sleep last night. After a relaxing bath, he was in bed and asleep by 8. Timothy and I had a nice "baby free" night out with Nick and Brandy at Shogun while Grammy, Papa and Auntie L stayed glued to the baby monitor, ready to spring into action at the slightest peep coming from Alex's room. We got back at 10:30 and I went to bed soon after. Alex didn't stir until 2am, so I got up and nursed him, laid him back down, and went to sleep. I woke up to the sound of Alex whining, and when I glanced at the clock, it said 7:20am!
Let me recap - Alex slept from 8pm to 2am, nursed a little and was back to sleep by 2:30, then up again at 7:20. That's almost eleven hours of sleep!! After several previous nights of not so great sleep, this was huge!!
A good night's sleep is best followed by a good brunch, so we ended our fun-filled weekend at Common Grounds. Alex kept us and all of the diners around us (his boyish charm is irresistable) entertained while we ate.
We said bye to Grammy, Papa and Auntie L, who all headed back home after brunch, leaving the three of us home alone. Again, the activities of the day (to which us house dwellers are unaccustomed) proved too much for Alex, who decided an impromptu nap was called for. He crashed with his daddy, undoubtedly dreaming about what fun surprises next year's BBB will bring...
