Sunday Best

What a divo Alex has become. Ever since his big debut as a disco star, he has been making outrageous demands. We spent most of the day on Saturday trying to find platform shoes in his size. When we finally got home, he made us watch Saturday Night Fever six times, insisting that John Travolta is now his "hero" and that he was simply doing "research" to make sure that the moves for his next performance would be "outta sight".

We couldn't find any ready-to-wear platform shoes in a size two, so while we are waiting to have some custom made, Alex has been giving his rattle shoes a try. He wiggles his feet and seems to hear the sound, but I don't think he has put the two together yet. When he looked in the mirror, however, he did look at his feet in bewilderment, like he was trying to figure out what was growing out of them.

Sunday he had a big first - he went to the nursery at church for the very first time. We suggested he dress up in order to make a good impression, but he wasn't totally on board with that idea. After some negotiation, we compromised on jeans and a tie (business on top, party on the bottom).

It was a little difficult for mama to release him into the arms of a bunch of strangers, but I handled it pretty well. From the look on his face, he was a little perplexed by his new surroundings, but I'm sure he was happy to see some faces other than his dad and me.

We were happy when we got back from the service and found Alex in good spirits. According to the nursery caretakers, he was a good boy and would be invited back again if we chose to bring him. Phew, what a relief.

We hung at the Primms until community group started at four, and A spent the majority of that time asleep. And despite the bevy of loud noises, he remained in a deep slumber for the entire community group meeting. So deep, in fact, that Timothy and I spent much of prayer time trying to stifle fits of roaring laughter as Alex's snoring resonated throughout the living room. There's no doubt about it, he is his father's son!

That is the cutest shirt!! Where did you get that? I love it. I am glad I wasn't the only one biting my lip during the prayer at CG....I was wondering if anyone else could hear the little guy.
